two memes, yay
Interests meme: 'Twas gakked from
boz4pm. There's only one rule: Comment, and I'll pick seven of your LJ interests, and you can explain them for the amusement of all.
panic! at the disco - I only started to love them when I saw the video for "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." I've only heard them on the radio before that, and while I liked their songs just fine, I always confused them for Fall Out Boy, haha. xD The "I Write Sins..." video drew me to them because of the idea that a bunch of teenagers (they're barely older than me!) impressed some bigshot so much that they featured an entire circus for their first music video. Rather shallow, true, but meh. ;p Plus, their songs are really fun to listen to, and the tunes are catchy. xD
british dudes - What can I say, it's the accent. ;p Almost every English-language show aired here is American, so the change in accent (and dialect, ha) is refreshing for me.
crack pairings - Hee. Crack pairings. One of my anti-drugs. Whenever I'm PMSing or depressed (actually, those two aren't mutually exclusive...), I go to good ol' FF.net and inundate myself with fics featuring pairings like Snape/Tonks (ha!), Harry/Hogwarts (double ha!), and the like. xD
oxford comma - I feel sorry for the oxford comma, actually. It's severely underused in Philippine English -- a result, I think, of Spanish colonial rule. My Spanish teacher once told us that people writing in Castellano Spanish seem almost afraid of commas. I'm inclined to agree with her. In any case, I've been using the oxford comma ever since I read my dad's copy of Strunk and White's The Elements of Style, 2nd edition back when I was small. I've had to deal with comments like "You use too many commas!" from my English teachers, though, until I got to my first semester of uni, and my English prof made us read the most recent edition of Strunk and White. Heh.
renaissance artists - My interest in Renaissance artists arose from watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles while growing up. Seriously. Of course, the artists I know the most about are Donatello, Michaelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael. ;p
graphic art - Actually, I think I should've put this as "graphic design." In any case, I just love the fact that you can convey so much meaning using just one image, and studying how to do just that interests me.
cluedo -- Eep, Cluedo! I love this game, though most of you probably know it as Clue. I was introduced to this in my senior year of high school. It was the intrams, and I was at the PCH with friends and Kat G brought her set with her and taught us all how to play. Only her set was in German, so we all had fun trying to figure out how to
pronounce the characters' names and the rooms. The games generally went like, "I think it's the purple dude, using the knife, in the uh...Ku-er...ay, basta! This room!" Heh. We even played a few rounds with one of our cooler teachers. xD Christine bought an English set soon after that, so during the breaks in-between graduation practice, we'd play rounds. Haha. It's one of the ways I spend time with my high school barkada. xD

Comment on this post. I'll choose seven userpics from your profile and you'll reply in your journal, explaining what they mean and why you're using them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along.

This is is one of my favorites. I love this picture, because it's so wistful, and I think it's pretty. :)

This is one of the first icons I ever made. This is a chibi version of Nobuhiro Watsuki, the manga-ka of Rurouni Kenshin. While it's cute, it still manages to show frustration quite nicely.

sicksadtoodles loves cows. xD I love this icon to bits, because, hee, ph33rs0m3 cows!

Seeing as I'm planning to minor in Chemistry, and as my grades in Chemistry were the best I've ever had in high school excluding my English and Computer ones, I thought it appropriate that I should get an icon like this. xD (Plus, I'm a total nerd, so I really needed a nerd icon. Heh.) Also, the solutions on the icon look pretty. :D

This is Destiny, from The Sandman. He's the eldest of the Endless, a dysfunctional family of anthropomorphic representations of natural forces. This isn't how he usually appears in the comics, though, as this image was capped from The Little Endless Storybook, which contains chibi-fied versions of all the Sandman characters. I use this whenever I talk about books, or reading, since all Destiny does is to read his book and say cryptic stuff throughout the series.

This is Brandon Routh as Clark Kent, and the text is from the song "Superman" by Five For Fighting. I love this icon because I'm pleased with the effect the gradient had on Clark's face, something I fiddled with for a long time before I was satisfied with the end product. The reason why I chose those particular lyrics is because I never bought into the "Superman is the real persona and Clark Kent is only the disguise" the Superman movies and Golden and Silver Age Comics had going on. So, yeah. :D I use this whenever I can't find another icon to suit my mood, or if I'm posting something Superman-related.

"Perchance to dream" is from Shakespeare's Hamlet, but then again, you probably know that already. The guy on the icon is Dream, the third Endless sibling out of seven. This is the icon I use if I'm in a somber mood, or if I'm feeling angsty.

By the by, I have always loved your chibi Destiny & frustrated Watsuki-sensei icons, just so you know; every time I see them, I get a little happy ('cause I'm sort of a dork).

Pff! Who calls it 'Clue'? It's Cluedo and always has been! ;P
Also: what IS an "oxford comma"? *is utterly baffled* How is it different from an ordinary comma? Is there a cambridge comma? I feel we should be told!

In any case, the oxford comma is...well, Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxford_comma) explains it better. ;p

BTW, which meme do you want to be tagged for? Both or just one? :)

To answer your query: what the hell, I'll do 'em both. I'm flexible like that.
