the Beingness of Being is in the being

...Oh, Heidegger, how I fucking hate you.

Heidegger and Kant are the Devil (yes, both of them). I didn't enjoy my philosophy class as much once we left the Greeks behind (and my test grades reflected that vividly, eep).

I agree with you! Give me a dead Greek philosopher over a dead German philosopher any day. I'm still wondering what the hell Heidegger meant by the "Being of being" he kept on repeating in the text. D:

Think of the the word "is". Lower case being is like "is". It is that which exists. A person, for example, is part of lower case being. When he talks about beingness, he's speaking about quiddity, essence, or the whatness of things.

You are a being within Being.

The capital B Being is like the universe or perhaps God.

I think.

I propose that it doesn't mean anything because he made it up (all of philosophy is made up--Greek made-up philosophy just lacks the pretention of German [and French, incidentally] made-up philosophy).

Hm. Something to ponder on. Thanks! :)

...When do you want the Terry Pratchett book back? It's been with me for ages!
