Summary: The first kiss turned a ghost into a man. The second turned a girl into a woman. Two kisses, a ring, a backward glance: on such things do lives turn. In the real world outside the opera, two people struggle against themselves.

Comments: I love this. It's set post-movie, with the Franco-Prussian war as the backdrop of the story, and I've always been a sucker for stories set during periods of war. Plus, it has Erik ~~gallivanting~~ ~~traipsing~~ going around the French countryside in broad daylight, and in a very plausible manner too, which makes me love this piece more. But don't think that this is a light-hearted fic, because it isn't. Really.
