on philippine history

I love studying history. I really, really do. It's just that...whenever I'm supposed to read assigned essays on the effects of Spanish and American colonization in the Philippines, I feel a surge of rage so powerful I get a headache from keeping it all in. It doesn't matter what the social issue is -- racism, economic exploitation, political abuses -- it makes me want to travel back in time and hit the people responsible for them.

Sometimes I think I missed my true calling as a political activist.
