1. The universe read my previous post and made my day. Hee!

2. 30 Day Song Challenge:

(Forgot to post this yesterday, boo.)
Day 03 - A song that makes you happy

All the Pretty Girls by fun.

The song's lyrics aren't particularly happy, but the mood it elicits from me is strangely uplifting, haha.

Day 04 - a song that makes you sad
Smile Like You Mean It by The Killers

It's a song about growing up, about leaving pieces of yourself behind as you move on in life. There's nothing in this song that ISN'T sad.

Okay, so I was trawling youtube for videos of The Civil Wars' live performances (which you should check out because they're AWESOME), when I had a brainfart: Poison and Wine is Dean and Cas's breakup song OH GOD.

(Joy) Your hands can heal, your hands can bruise
(John) I don't have a choice, but I'd still choose you
(Both) I don't love you, but I always will

Joy sings Dean's parts and John sings Cas's and this is perfect for them WHY ARE THERE NO FANVIDS YET? I want my weekly dose of WAAAAANGST damn it. ;__;

1. 30 Day Song Challenge, Day 02 - your least favorite song

Judas by Lady Gaga:

OH GOD I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SONG. The video is amusing though. (But then I consider iconoclasts amusing.) This is really weird, as I usually like Lady Gaga songs.

2.This just makes me sad. :(

1. My 8-year-old brother, over dinner: "Supervillains are so stupid. Why do they want to blow up the world? They're just going to blow up themselves!"

2. I've decided to do the 30-Day Song Challenge over at FB. And because this journal needs more content, I'm going to cross-post the song entries here.

Day 01 - Your favorite song

Barton Hollow by The Civil Wars:

There's something about the way their voices blend together that makes me want to listen to them all day. It doesn't hurt that the guy looks like a musically-talented version of Johnny Depp. (I love the man, but he should never have been Sweeney Todd *hides from die-hard fans*)

3. I HAD NO IDEA MARK IS WATCHING A:TLA. I AM MIGHTY PLEASED. :D

4. Misha Collins is TROLLOLOLOVELY HAHA.

1. I was disappointed with the HP7 film. It didn't really suck; it's just that everything was so much more epic in my head. That said, the actor they got for Albus Severus is just precious. I want to squeeze him and keep him in my pocket, hee. :D

2. I resolve to use random song lyrics for the subject line every time I can't think of something to put in there. Just because.

3. I noticed that I'm becoming more and more passive-aggressive as I grow older. I don't know if this is a good thing or not.

4. I should stop going to Fully Booked when I don't have any money. I found out earlier that they finally re-stocked the Arthur Trilogy, which excited me at first. But then I realized that after buying new earphones, splurging on food last night, and buying the travel-sized version of Cluedo, I don't have enough left to buy all three books. DAMN IT.

5. For some strange reason, I woke up with Feel Like Dance by globe running through my head the other day. And since I don't really know the lyrics, my mind substituted "Feeling mo ikaw si Marimar, 'yun pala ikaw si Corazon," instead of whatever the lyrics for the chorus are supposed to be. I love the fact that my brain could still remember the stupid words us kids came up with when we couldn't be bothered to look for song lyrics.

6. #5 prompted me to look for the other Japanese songs from my childhood. So now I can't stop listening to Pizzicato Five's Sweet Soul Revue. Which I am embedding here, because I love the proto-Shibuya-kei look of the video:

hee!

1. Today's Crowning Moment of Funny: "I'm being nice to you guys because one day, one of you will be touching my prostate." --Mr. P

2. I love this module's integration activity. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Music and the brain! Celebrity guest speaker! Wheeee! :D

3. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. P is my new idol. He made me forget the disappointment that is the second Neuroscience module exam, tomorrow's final exams, and the fact that I've yet to touch the research proposal due TOMORROW NIGHT AAAARRRGGGHHHHHH.

4. This afternoon's soundtrack:
- Field Day by Jim Chappell
- Tuwing Umuulan at Kapiling Ka by Eraserheads (and the Regine Velasquez version)
- Panalangin by APO Hiking Society
- Doobidoo by Kamikazee

5. OH GOD MIKEY BUSTOS. )

6. I am unaccountably giddy tonight. I should really start studying now.

"Man's duty is to wield the sword! Defend the king!
"Wot? No! A male's duty is to uphold the banner of beauty!"

Adam was a gentleman in Eden
Though his body was admired,
You will grant the adding of a fig leaf was inspired!
("Oh, yes, a fig leaf does the job!")
If you're out to make a splash, cheri,
Do know your haberdashery!
Buttons, buckles, ruffles and lace
Represent the human race!
La, but someone has to strike a pose
And bear the weight of well-tailored clothes
Each species needs a sex that's fated
To be highly decorated
That is why the Lord created men!

Oh God, how I love this song. Mostly because I envision a group of fops flouncing around with their lacy sleeves and jabots and what-have-yous and generally being 'manly'. *snicker*

Why oh why isn't a local theater group picking up this musical? I want to spread the Percy love, damn it.

I've only done up to page 3 out of the 15-page paper I have to write for PSY 103. And you know what? I don't care. Because OMG INCUBUS CONCERT WTF. I screamed so hard earlier my throat hurts till now. And given the fact that my lungs' and vocal chords' capacity for making loud noises is very, very considerable, that's saying something.

I love the crowd earlier. They all knew most of the songs, except the ones that haven't been released as singles yet -- they were totally different from the FOB crowd. (Which was half-comprised of people who haven't even heard of Fall Out Boy, on account of the fact that they're only there to accompany their kids.) (Speaking of parents, while on the queue at BreadTalk after the concert, there was someone complaining behind me about a mom who told her to stop screaming and jumping because her precious little girl was there. O_o Some people just make NO SENSE.)

The only low point I could think of is the fact that whenever Brandon starts to say something, everyone cheered, so I didn't manage to catch whatever he said since he was very succinct. I think he spoke a total of less than 20 words to the crowd tonight, but the band made up for it by being talented. I love the way they play, and whenever they slip into a musical interlude, almost everyone went silent and listened and appreciated the music.

To sum up everything: It was awesome. It was totally worth giving up the time it would have taken me to finish half of the things due on Tuesday.

Did my Chemistry homework for 3 hours straight. I could've easily finished it in 2 hours, but my anal retentiveness reared its ugly head and I re-wrote all my equations twice until it looked neat enough. Now there's a permanent indentation on my right index finger from because I my grip on the pen was too tight. Heh.

So, yes. Am now completely addicted to "A Cello Rondo". Why I didn't discover it sooner, I have no idea.

Oh God, I was loling and rofling and generally making a fool out of myself as I was watching this video:

It's Eraserheads' Magasin in English!

franz ferdinand's song "walk away" weirds me out. i don't know why...

As I write this, I'm also listening to the second movement of Beethoven's "Pastoral" Symphony. And now I can't help but wonder what imagery comes into their heads when people in those days were listening to the orchestra.

Gyah. I should stop wondering now, and just appreciate the music.

***

I tried playing Moonlight Sonata earlier, and the first thing that came into mind while I was stretching my fingers to their limits was, Beethoven, you bastard!

While I have fairly large hands - for someone as small as I am, anyway; my hands are as large as my uncle's, who's more than half a foot taller than me - my fingers were stretched cruelly as I was playing the farking first movement. What would happen if I went on and played the next two movements, I wonder?

Or maybe the reason why my fingers can't reach the keys is because I haven't done finger-stretching piano scales since I was eight years old. O_o Argh...if only my piano teacher wasn't so superstitious - she didn't want dates printed on the underside of the currency numbers when we pay her, she doesn't want P500 bills because Ninoy was frowning, etc. - I'd be better at playing the piano now. Rarr.
