Caveat: Before you read this entry, you must realize that (a) there is much use and abuse of CAPSLOCKSQUEE; and (b) I'm not a Trekkie purist in any sense of the word. So if you didn't like the movie on the sole basis of it messing around with canon (how could you add to Trekkie canon these days, anyway, with old GR gone for almost two decades now?), then you probably wouldn't like my opinion.

That said, let the squeeage begin! )

Verdict: Awesome movie. Go watch it! You don't have to be a Star Trek fan to appreciate this Star Trek movie. It's a complete reboot for the series, a reboot I'm looking forward to following. They really ARE boldly going where no one has gone before. I can't wait to see what they'll come up with next. :D

I've only just finished watching episode 3x08 of Dexter, and oh my god. The word "intense" doesn't do it justice. And that cliff-hanger at the end made me want to throw something at the screen.

I can't wait until I find time to watch 3x09. I bet it'd be fan-freaking-tastic.

WOO-HOO! WE WON!

Just got back from eating dinner out with Banzy, Mirza and Dea at Eastwood, after watching the AdMU vs. UST game at Araneta. 'Twas muy fun! Not only did we win, we were shown on TV twice! Hee. xD

squeeage )

I'll post pictures once Rai and Banzy share it with the rest of us. (I don't have a camera, boo.)

My voice sucks right now. I've been cheering non-stop for more than two hours, since NU had a distinct lack of supporters (the game before ours was NU vs. FEU, and NU won, yay!). It really didn't help that after eating dinner at Falzoni's we had dessert at Dairy Queen. Ice cream is love, but it ruins one's voice after a game. xD

OH GOD I wanna watch the next AdMU vs. DLSU game! I'm so excited! 8D

In honor of the release of the first official Watchmen trailer, I made a really simple Watchmen wallpaper:

I can't wait 'til it comes out!

I have to watch The Dark Knight soon. I promised myself I wouldn't read spoilers on the Internet, and so far I've kept my word. Don't know when my self-control will snap though. I'm a spoiler junkie. xD

I just finished watching Kenneth Branagh's version of Hamlet, aka "The Eternity" production, because it takes all of eternity to finish. (It runs at just under four hours, making it the longest film I've watched to date, and pushing The Ten Commandments to the background, hah.)

It's Hamlet as I've never imagined, especially since I've never imagined that Hamlet would have a moustache and an irritating goatee. (I've got a grudge against men with goatees because of Sir Velarde. xD)

But! But. I felt particularly vindicated that Mr. Branagh agreed with me re: Hamlet's relationship with Ophelia. I always felt he was taunting Polonius with the "fishmonger" references, as well as the warnings of his daughter conceiving under the sun and whatnot; not to mention Ophelia's little ditty after she'd gone mad.

ETA: I was just reading the play again when I realized that one possible interpretation of Ophelia's suicide is that she's pregnant with Hamlet's child, if you're going by the thesis that they got it on before the play's actions started. Which makes me wonder what would have happened if Polonius hadn't interfered with their relationship in the first place, or if Hamlet hadn't heard a sound in the Kenneth Branagh production before the "Get thee to a nunnery" scene...(I swear, I can tell that that film's going to eat up my brain for days; it's really annoying.) ETA 2: Re-watched the "Get thee to a nunnery" scene, and realized that Hamlet heard the sound after he told Ophelia to go to a nunnery. Whoops. Ah well.

I've only done up to page 3 out of the 15-page paper I have to write for PSY 103. And you know what? I don't care. Because OMG INCUBUS CONCERT WTF. I screamed so hard earlier my throat hurts till now. And given the fact that my lungs' and vocal chords' capacity for making loud noises is very, very considerable, that's saying something.

I love the crowd earlier. They all knew most of the songs, except the ones that haven't been released as singles yet -- they were totally different from the FOB crowd. (Which was half-comprised of people who haven't even heard of Fall Out Boy, on account of the fact that they're only there to accompany their kids.) (Speaking of parents, while on the queue at BreadTalk after the concert, there was someone complaining behind me about a mom who told her to stop screaming and jumping because her precious little girl was there. O_o Some people just make NO SENSE.)

The only low point I could think of is the fact that whenever Brandon starts to say something, everyone cheered, so I didn't manage to catch whatever he said since he was very succinct. I think he spoke a total of less than 20 words to the crowd tonight, but the band made up for it by being talented. I love the way they play, and whenever they slip into a musical interlude, almost everyone went silent and listened and appreciated the music.

To sum up everything: It was awesome. It was totally worth giving up the time it would have taken me to finish half of the things due on Tuesday.

WHY DID I NOT KNOW THAT HOUSE IS PLAYED BY HUGH LAURIE?

I feel so stupid right now. I've heard about House, of course, about how great a show it is, but I haven't seen any promo stills, or if I had, it didn't register correctly because not once did it click that the face staring out at me from the Season One DVD is actually Hugh-freaking-Laurie's until I saw the opening credits!

I must one of the most obtuse people in the world. *sigh*

ETA: I'm watching episode five right now, and oh God the eyeroll! Mr. Laurie was doing The Eyeroll which always always makes me squee with glee. Hee. :D

ETA2: It's 5:54am and I HAVEN'T SLEPT YET. Am turning in now though, as I've just finished watching episode 17.

I didn't post this last night on account of the stupid virus (which, by the way, is GONE NOW. I love AVG. xD) but since the PC is already okay...

F.O.B. SQUEEAGE TIME!!!

Chicosci opened the show. I've never heard their screamo-ness live, so the experience was novel for me. xD

After Chicosci, we were made to wait -- what, 15 minutes? -- before the MTV VJs showed up and psyched us all up before disappearing and making us wait another ten minutes. It almost killed my mood. It certainly didn't help that they started to play gangsta rap to fill in the gap. Blegh. I HATE GANGSTA RAP. Or any kind of rap, period.

Anyway, FOB FINALLY CAME OUT AND OMG OMG PATRICK. You could never count how many times I screamed at him to LOOK AT ME, never mind that I was in Upper B. The guy next to me was totally weirded out at my antics. xD

Around two or three songs in, Pete was doing one of his stunts when he fell down. Then he blamed his choreographer for not teaching the move to him more thoroughly. xD Anyway, them girls at the Not-Pit* loved it, because they love a dizzily-getting-up-from-the-floor!Pete ahaha.

Most of the songs they played were from Infinity on High so most of them were unfamiliar to me, having not bought that album (or downloaded it from the internet). But that didn't stop me from jumping and screaming and whatnot because hey, music is music, and I liked the songs anyway. xD

There was only one moment of stagegay! D: But then again, the stagegayery involved kissing, so the fangirls swooned. xD (I didn't. I was just amused. The seemingly homophobic guy next to me looked nauseated ahaha.xD)

I was amused when Pete made all the twelve-year-old girls** scream GODDAMN since he said that their parents weren't with them anyway. Little does he know about Filipino middle-class culture, where girls aren't allowed to go out -- especially to CUBAO! AT NIGHT!*** -- without a yaya or a parent until they're MARRIED!**** Anyway, there were parents were there, alright. And they were Not Amused, though that didn't stop the twelve-year-old girls from screaming obscenities on the top of their lungs, because when PETE WENTZ tells them to shout whatever the fuck he wants them to shout, THEY WILL FUCKING SHOUT IT GODDAMN IT.

The downer to the whole thing is that they finished at 10.20pm. TEN TWENTY PM. IT WASN'T EVEN ELEVEN O'CLOCK YET WHUT. So we just hanged around on our seats to rest for a bit since the human traffic outside would be horrible, never mind the vehicular traffic.

I'd have posted pictures, but my phone's camera's resolution sucks and we were too nice to sneak in a camera. (Of course, every one whipped out their cameras which were secreted away in some hidden pocket or another the moment the show started. Darn.)

*I say Not-Pit because the Araneta Center doesn't allow Pits. But that doesn't stop the audiences from just pushing away the folding chairs anyway.
**most of the audience in the lower boxes were twelve-year-old girls spoiled senseless by their parents and TELL ME THAT ISN'T RIGHT
***That place gives me the heebie-jeebies at night. Hookers and druggies and homeless people at every turn OMG.
****Pure hyperbole, but it might as well be true. I know people older than me who still have a yaya.

boring )

***

Spent almost an hour just losing myself in the awesomeness that is the new bookstore at Robinson's Galleria earlier and I swear, once everything is over and done with, I am so going to spend an entire day just browsing their shelves.

***

Watched Because I Said So with Teh Baby Sister earlier. Diane Keaton was very, very fake, but the hotness that is Gabriel Macht made up for it. In fact, if he weren't so hot, I'd say that the film was a total waste.

But the D'OH! moment for me was the part where Diane Keaton's character says, "I'm not some miserable character from a Tennessee Williams play!" whereupon my mind suddenly goes, "Why could I not hide from The Glass Menagerie? Why do I have to be reminded of my Lit finals? Gah, bah, and darnation!--cosmos, what did I do to you?" From that point on, I keet on labeling her as "Amanda Wingfield" in my head, with Mandy Moore being "Laura," and hot-shot architect whatshisname as "Jim O'Connor." Hot Guy was labeled as "Tom Wingfield" by my brain, as I fixated on him ever since I started watching the film, much as I did on Jake de Leon when I watched TA's production of Glass Menagerie. Ahaha.

I need to shut up about the film now.

OMG. I just followed [livejournal.com profile] luciademedici's link, and I barely restrained myself from squealing because, GAH, HARRY POTTER! VOLDEMORT! RALPH FIENNES!

Random Comments:

1. Umbridge just wasn't toady enough. You can't really have Umbridge without including her toady-ness. xD

2. RADCLIFFE'S HAIR!!! *dies*

3. The DA looks so cool. Haha, they're doing superhero poses without the stereotypical superhero stances! *dork*

4. The actress for Luna needs to look more creepy. Or disturbing. And I'm not sure, but is she wearing bottlecap earrings? Because she isn't...there'll be hell to pay. (Or not.)

5. Who is that short boy beside Luna in the DA pic?

Will stop mentally squeeing and start going home now. xD
