The more I read Star Trek fic, the more I'm convinced that Vulcan is partly based on Filipino, at least for their terms of endearment.

Cases in point:

k'hat'n'dlawa - half of each other's heart and soul. This may have been derived from kahati ng dalawa, which kind of doesn't make sense in Filipino because its literal translation is "one half of two [somethings]," but it's a phrase that a non-native speaker would construct. I guess it's meant to convey something along the lines of "someone I am cloven to." If this is the case, I would have used kabiyak ng puso (k'byak'n'pso? heh), the old-fashioned term for spouse, which literally translates to "the other half of [my] heart."

k'diwa - beloved (used to address one's k'hat'n'dlwa). This could have been taken from kadiwa, a Filipino word meaning "a person of the same spirit, essence, or consciousness [as me]". It's a very rough translation, seeing as it's difficult to translate the prefix ka- to English, but I guess this is close enough.

By Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies features the original text of Jane Austen's beloved novel with all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie action. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton...[read the entire synopsis here]

THIS LOOKS SO AWESOME WHY IS IT NOT IN THE MARKET YET??? (Also: I hope it gets released here. Or else I will just cry.)

WATCH IT. NOW.

The film had me going all OMGCAPSLOCKCAPSLOCKSQUEEEEE!!!!!!!111111 in my text message to Christine when I finished it because when she said it kicked ass, Iron Man really did kick ass. A lot.

No one wanted to watch it with me when I announced to everyone (well, my dad and my uncle) that I'm going to watch it tonight. So I lured my mom into watching it by promising that Robert Downey Jr played the eponymous role. (She loves Robert Downey Jr. and I think she'd seen every one of his films.) And at the end of the film she agreed with me that Iron Man indeed kicked ass. (I knew there was a reason why she's my mother.)

I felt totally stupid when my brain kept on nagging me about "Strategic Homeland Intervension, Espionage Logistics Directorate" because I knew that I know it from somewhere. Maybe if it was written down I would've recognized it as a backronym of S.H.I.E.L.D. earlier. In any case, I was all "DOI! It's S.H.I.E.L.D.!" when it was revealed. -_______-

And and and! That thing in the end, after the credits? OMG SPOILARZ OF DOOOOM! )

Random outtake:
Mom: *texting my uncle in Denmark* Oh yeah we're all fine here; the girls and I are watching Iron Man later
Uncle: But Iron Man isn't a chick flick!
Mom: Who says we're chicks?!

So. Yes. My sister and I went to Bonifacio High Street earlier. Neil Gaiman was there. And he smiled in our direction. But my sister wasn't quick enough to whip out the camera so we don't have shots of his face up front. But. But. I WAS IN THE PRESENCE OF NEIL GAIMAN. I wasn't more than ten meters away from him! I nearly swooned!

Here, have a picture of him holding a board with the word "QUINTESSENTIAL" on it:

Never mind the fact that I stood around for almost two hours, thereby making my ankle to get sore again. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT. WORTH IT I TELL YOU!

Also, ang kapal ng mukha ni Eric Mana. Sinabi na nga na walang book signing, nagpa-pirma pa ng libro! XD

Am currently in our new room in our new unit. The walls are of the 6-inch stripe variety, alternating between dark violet and lilac with an accent color of aquamarine blue beneath. (I know the color combination seems strange, but once I take a picture, you'll see that IT WORKS IT REALLY WORKS!!

It's taking all my willpower not to squee and dance a jig giddily, because the men working on the electric circuits certainly wouldn't appreciate it. 8D

Also, broadband Internet service is Teh Luv. Especially if it's broadband Internet service paid for by my mom's office. xD

Am currently resuming my Star Trek: Voyager geekery.
