So. I was on the elevator on my way up to our house earlier where there were two Korean teenagers talking to each other. Now, I don't know any word in Korean except for the lyrics to Arirang -- and that's only because we were required to sing that song for Music class in high school -- but strangely enough, I could follow what they were saying.

It was only when I got off the elevator when it hit me: they were speaking in a mixture of Korean and Tagalog*! IT'S SO FUNNY I'M STILL GIGGLING ABOUT IT.

Imagine: their parents decided to move here so the kids would learn how to speak good English. But their kids end up being mediocre English speakers because they don't get to practice much, as most ManileƱos speak in either Tagalog/Filipino or Taglish, not pure English. So the Korean kids are more proficient in speaking Tagalog than English! Talk about irony. xD

*A dialect which I will call Korlog(TM), because I love mashed-up words like that. :D

Okay. Jumping head first into working on the Filipino paper right after finishing the English one is definitely one of my less-than-stellar moments. My brain hasn't caught up with my body yet, and I found myself writing about feminism in Filipino children's books in English.

Gyaah. I'll shift languages, starting...now.

Ayan, sige. Nyarrr.)

Hay, buhay. Parang life.

;p

Sige na nga, magsusulat na ako.
