GAHGAHGAHGAHGAH.

My enlistment was doomed from the start. DOOMED, I tell you!

First off, Firefox stopped responding just as I was able to login to the system, 5 minutes later than my brethren. So I had to waste 10 minutes of my time trying to login again.

Then, when I was finally in, there were no more slots for the SA21 class I wanted to get into. So I went and got another one.

When I went to confirm my enlistment, THREE OF MY CLASSES WERE FULL. And they wouldn't let me confirm my enlistment because OMG I OVERLOADED.

So I called up the registrar's and they said I have to do a load revision on the first day of classes. So...why did I bother trying to fit in SA in my schedule when it's all for naught anyway?!

Anyway, so I had to redo PSY105.1 and .2, and PSY110 and PSY107. Which is basically all my majors. And now my carefully crafted schedule fell apart.

Behold, my final schedule:

I'm planning to take SA on a T-TH morning schedule. But Mondays and Fridays are SO SUCKY OMG. D:
finluithiel: (Default)
Why do I have to have a sucky random number? Now I'm forced to get the Saturday PSY 105.2 class, which I do not like. But what I'd detest more is if I somehow ran out of slots for that class and be forced to get the 7.30 PSY 105.1 class.

This is what my schedule will be (hopefully):

God, I wish I wish I wish I'd get this schedule. Half-day everday! Heaven!

I'm random number 481. Which means I'm on the last batch to enlist for SOSS. Why oh why does it have to be this way?

Have just finished RotK. I love it. Love love love it. I never thought I'd love RotK more than when I saw the regular version, but the extended version beats it, hands down. :D

(What irritates me about the movie, though, is their portrayal of Celeborn. He did not sail West with Galadriel, damn it. And he wasn't some mindless zombie following his mistress around!)

***

Now, on to reading fic! (Possibly something that redeems Celeborn, that poor elf.)

I'm exempted from my history orals! Yayness! History is history, baby! xD

The extended version of LotR: TTT is so much love! I can't stop squeeing my throat out. :DDDDDDDDDDDD

Boromir flashbacks! Theodred! The Ent-water incident! "I am eighty-seven years old!" The glittering caves! (Why was there no Gimli?) OMG, I can't stop grinning!

[livejournal.com profile] ragincajunette is right, it's better than the extended version of FotR. 8D

Now, on to RotK! (I loves me my LotR movies, my preciooooouuuuuuussssssssss haha.)

Just saw the music video for Fall Out Boy's cover of Beat it (courtesy of dear cousin Mikey) and omg sorta-kinda-dancing!Patrick freaks me out. @___@ Ahaha. And I love their 80's outfits, especially Joe's. 8D

Okay, enough idleness. It's crunch time!

The extended edition of LotR: FotR is love love LOVE.

Just sayin'. :D

You scored as Materialist

Materialism stresses the essence of fundamental particles. Everything that exists is purely physical matter and there is no special force that holds life together. You believe that anything can be explained by breaking it up into its pieces. i.e. the big picture can be understood by its smaller elements.

I'm kinda worried about our history project. Mainly because I feel rather braindead right now. The opening pages of the 'storybook' are okay I guess, but at around page 8, you'll start to see that I'm getting lazy and it isn't as nice or as pretty as the first four pages are. Ahaha.

Also, my two (that's right, two) Filipino papers are going nowhere, fast. In short: my brain is dead. Mourn for it, and for me. My grades for this term is going to suck, I can already tell.

Just got back from watching TA's Filipino production of "May Day Eve".

It was awesome. I had serious doubts about it before the show started, mainly because it's a script translated from a script that's based on a short story. But seriously, all my fears about it being a substandard production were unfounded -- I was blown away.

My favorite part was when the old Don Badoy started singing a kundiman; not only was Bodjie Pascua's voice amazing, the sheer emotionality of the piece left me breathless -- I literally did not breathe while he sang.

I also love the fact that the production emphasized the cyclical nature of things, and their treatment of the time factor: everything is fluid; past and present merge and interact with one another it becomes almost...organic in a way. (Don't ask me to explain why I used the word "organic" -- it's just the first adjective that popped into my head; I'll develop my thoughts later when I start writing my paper.)

***

I'm really, really frustrated by the fact that I have to write my analysis using a socio-hisorical-slash-contextual framework. The production practically begs to be deconstructed with the formalist perspective. (Oh yes, my inner frustrated wannabe Lit major is clamoring to break free. I've actually missed doing this kind of thing. Which is kind of scary.)

meh.

I am not receiving any LJ alerts in my inbox. I have no idea whether it's LJ's or Gmail's fault. Either way, I AM NOT PLEASED.

I feel as if I'm going to bomb my Fil 14 exam later. I hope to God and all that is holy that that would not be the case. I want a decent grade in Fil for once, damn it. The last time I had a Filipino grade that's higher than a C+ was way back in grade school.

[Error: unknown template qotd]The 19th century. Partly because I'd be one of the tallest women in the population. I mean, think about it -- Jose Rizal was my height; Marcelo H. del Pilar was shorter than me; Gregorio del Pilar, standing at 5'4", was a veritable giant at the time! How could I not love that time period? xD

In other news, FIL 14 IS KILLING ME. I wish I could just drop the subject entirely, but that means taking it yet again if I ever want to graduate. I want to invent a time machine, just so I could jump two weeks into the future and avoid all the aggravation finishing that particular course would entail.

Of course, it really wouldn't be so bad if only the two papers I have to pass for Fil 14 weren't due the same week as the project for Hi 165 is.

Taking 9 units during summer term is NOT FUN. I AM NOT DOING THIS AGAIN. EVER. D:

Random history outtake (from yesterday):
The origin of the Filipino word pera ("money") came from the Spanish word perra, which means "bitch". Isabella II of Spain was queen of Spain in the early half of the 19th century, and thus her face was minted on the coins. She was renowned for being a spoiled brat and a bitch (who wouldn't after being crowned queen at the ripe old age of 3?), so whenever people exchanged money, they went "You owe me X perras." "Okay, here are your X perras." xD

I love history.

History test was okay. Made me want to bash my head against the wall though -- I needn't have read the readings as most of the test focused on the lectures. Ah well.

Saw high-school-friend!Christine at school today! She was with her sister, who'll be a freshie in AdMU come June. They had fun playing with the Interactive Art exhibit thingy between de la Costa Hall and the SocSci Building. Ahaha.

Entry title was brought on by memories of Sir Velarde during dinner. Oh, high school, how I've missed thee.

...leaving us hapless students to memorize the dates for when he sailed off from Spain (20 September 1519), when he found Magellan's Strait (20 November 1520), when he made landfall in East Samar (16 March 1521), and when he was killed by Lapu-lapu's men (27 April 1521).

My brain is smote dead from memorizing all the names and dates. @____@ And I can never seem to remember which datu was baptized, Kulambu or Humabon.

The names of the ships in Magellan's fleet, however, I will never forget; Trinidad, Concepcion, Victoria, San Antonio, and Santiago -- the holy quintet -- has been pounded into my head since my history classes in grade school.

It's funny that our discussions in Hi165 and Fil14 mirror each other. We talk about our colonial history and culture in Hi165 while talking about the literature of that period in Fil14. We actually tackled Antonio Pigafetta's account of his interactions with the native FIlipinos in both classes. Pigafetta oughtn't have written about the penis piercings in such great detail, as my history class is convinced that he's a pervert, while some of my classmates in Filipino won't stop asserting that he's a sodomite. xD

iron man

WATCH IT. NOW.

The film had me going all OMGCAPSLOCKCAPSLOCKSQUEEEEE!!!!!!!111111 in my text message to Christine when I finished it because when she said it kicked ass, Iron Man really did kick ass. A lot.

No one wanted to watch it with me when I announced to everyone (well, my dad and my uncle) that I'm going to watch it tonight. So I lured my mom into watching it by promising that Robert Downey Jr played the eponymous role. (She loves Robert Downey Jr. and I think she'd seen every one of his films.) And at the end of the film she agreed with me that Iron Man indeed kicked ass. (I knew there was a reason why she's my mother.)

I felt totally stupid when my brain kept on nagging me about "Strategic Homeland Intervension, Espionage Logistics Directorate" because I knew that I know it from somewhere. Maybe if it was written down I would've recognized it as a backronym of S.H.I.E.L.D. earlier. In any case, I was all "DOI! It's S.H.I.E.L.D.!" when it was revealed. -_______-

And and and! That thing in the end, after the credits? OMG SPOILARZ OF DOOOOM! )

***

Random outtake:
Mom: *texting my uncle in Denmark* Oh yeah we're all fine here; the girls and I are watching Iron Man later
Uncle: But Iron Man isn't a chick flick!
Mom: Who says we're chicks?!

Heaven is eating copious amounts of ginatang halo-halo while reading fantastic crossover fanfic (Kingdom of Heaven/LotR!), with a Belle and Sebastian song playing in the background.

Heaven is also not going to school for a day.

Thank goodness for holidays. They are the only things that keep me sane. Well, those, and the internet. (It's nice to know there are crazier people in the world than me after all.)

I finally had the opportunity to check why my laptop won't connect to the WiFi network here in school.

It turns out that I put in the MAC Address of my Bluetooth device, not my LAN card when I registered for an account. *headdesk*

Really, I'm amazed that I got this far in life without hurting myself more than I already have.
