My brain is tiiiiiiiiiiiired. And mushy. It's so mushy that it's mushier than the mushiest mush ever to be mushed.

I've been going to school at 7.30 almost everyday this week. Stupid Hi 165 and Fil 14 readings. D: It makes me want to sleep the entire weekend away. Alas that it isn't possible.

(And besides, you could never make up for lost sleep. I know this because the PSY106 textbook says so. So nyah.)

I hope I don't get sick. My sister got sick earlier this week, and it looks like it's my brother's turn. Dratted unseasonable weather. It's only supposed to start raining in May, damn it!

Ang Mahal na Pasion ni Jesu-Cristong Panginoon Natin na Tola = SPONTANEOUS NEURAL APOPTOSIS

713 stanzas with five lines each! Written using Spanish orthography! THAT'S 3565 LINES OF OCTOSYLLABIC POETRY IN A FORM OF TAGALOG THAT HASN'T BEEN SPOKEN FOR MORE THAN 200 YEARS! And we're to do a 20-minute report on it on Tuesday?

We are SO going to die. *cries*

So. I was on the elevator on my way up to our house earlier where there were two Korean teenagers talking to each other. Now, I don't know any word in Korean except for the lyrics to Arirang -- and that's only because we were required to sing that song for Music class in high school -- but strangely enough, I could follow what they were saying.

It was only when I got off the elevator when it hit me: they were speaking in a mixture of Korean and Tagalog*! IT'S SO FUNNY I'M STILL GIGGLING ABOUT IT.

Imagine: their parents decided to move here so the kids would learn how to speak good English. But their kids end up being mediocre English speakers because they don't get to practice much, as most ManileƱos speak in either Tagalog/Filipino or Taglish, not pure English. So the Korean kids are more proficient in speaking Tagalog than English! Talk about irony. xD

*A dialect which I will call Korlog(TM), because I love mashed-up words like that. :D

I don't mind the fact that all the classes I'm taking right now has a lot of assigned readings. What I do mind is the fact that the first article we were given to read for Fil 14 is in freaking English. How am I going to answer a quiz in Filipino with an English text as my basis? It's like PSY 104 all over again, only in reverse. GRUAGH.

grrrr.

I just got back from Robinson's Galleria, where I cancelled the flight my mom booked for me because she forgot that I have classes and assumed that I'll be able to go with them to Boracay. I spent FIVE FREAKING HOURS just waiting and waiting and waiting for my number to be called. Seriously. Why couldn't they just allow us to cancel the booking online instead of forcing poor souls like me to waste half a day just to tell the nice lady in yellow that we won't be able to make the flight after all, thank you, good bye?

Also? IT'S HOT LIKE HELL. My dad's going to kill me once the electricity bills come in -- I've been pushing the air conditioner to its limits since I woke this morning.

Today could be described as hot hot HOT, spent just hanging around and waiting for people to arrive. Morning was spent waiting for Rai and Banzy to get to school so we could have our ID pictures taken (why incoming Juniors are required to do so I have NO IDEA), while the afternoon was spent waiting for a taxi to arrive because there's no direct route to Medical City using the transportation system.

Random outtake:

Banzy's friend: Ang labo mo, Banzy!
Banzy: Kung tinanggal mo salamin mo mas lalabo pa ako!
Banzy's friend: BWUH?
Me and Rai: MWAHAHAHAHA.

I love Banzy, kalabuan and all. xD

Here be my schedule:

It'll be a bit of a hike between Fil 14 and Hi 165, but a bit of a hike is better than an ornery Jesuit whose history class absolutely no one has enlisted in yet. (And I'm in the 7th batch of students to enlist!) And I hope - I hope - they don't dissolve any of the classes I'm in. *crosses fingers*

Reading Trish [livejournal.com profile] reasonandrhyme's latest entry makes me envious. She's the nth person I know who qualified for the JTA. Why doesn't the Psychology Department offer a JTA program too?;___;

The closest equivalent we have is to take our summer Practicum in Singapore. (Which I'm still going to look into, because I might not be qualified -- damn you, 2.59 QPI! -- for the program.) But it's not the same. D:

Teran is the only one who hasn't submitted my grades yet. Why oh why do I have to wait 'til Saturday before I could see my grades?! -_________-;;;;; All this sitting around and nail-biting isn't doing me an ounce of good. D:

I read Ella Enchanted earlier. 'Twas nice; it has a different kind of charm from the film based on it -- actually, the film doesn't resemble the novel at all. I still can't decide which one I like better, because they're both cute in their own quirky ways. Heh. :D

I've watched up to episode 5 of the taiga drama Shinsengumi!, and heh, I love their casting choices. Katori Shingo as Kondou Isami was a wise move, but I must say I'm really happy that Odagiri Joe played Saitou Hajime!

The thought of a yakuza!Saitou tickles me, considering the fact he ends up a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. I don't know how historically accurate that is (all that's known about his life before the Bakumatsu is that he's from a family of gokenin, low-class samurai), but seeing him hustling people for money made me laugh like a loon.

Also, the way Odagiri-san portrayed him in episode 5 gave me an insight to his motives for marrying then leaving behind Shinoda Yaso for Takagi Tokio...which gave rise to a plot bunny. It'll probably never leave my harddrive as I usually hate the things I end up writing, but but but! Oh, the thoughts racing through my head right now! I'm feeling really giddy, hee!

I just checked my email and found my final exam marks for Theo! I retained my standing! WHEE!!!

Considering the fact that I wrote the Christological definition of the Council of Chalcedon when I should have explained the Vatican II Council -- which would give me a big fat ZERO on that essay -- I did rather well: 2.33. That grade means I got an average of 3.45 for my five other essays, which is definitely not so bad.

I really, really hate the fact that I completely forgot the Vatican II Christological definition, because I could have had a B+ in the exam instead of a measly C+. Woe.

But that woe isn't enough to excite feelings of gloom and doom because OMG I retained my standing! I am one step closer to getting into the Dean's List, mwahaha!

I just finished watching Kenneth Branagh's version of Hamlet, aka "The Eternity" production, because it takes all of eternity to finish. (It runs at just under four hours, making it the longest film I've watched to date, and pushing The Ten Commandments to the background, hah.)

It's Hamlet as I've never imagined, especially since I've never imagined that Hamlet would have a moustache and an irritating goatee. (I've got a grudge against men with goatees because of Sir Velarde. xD)

But! But. I felt particularly vindicated that Mr. Branagh agreed with me re: Hamlet's relationship with Ophelia. I always felt he was taunting Polonius with the "fishmonger" references, as well as the warnings of his daughter conceiving under the sun and whatnot; not to mention Ophelia's little ditty after she'd gone mad.

ETA: I was just reading the play again when I realized that one possible interpretation of Ophelia's suicide is that she's pregnant with Hamlet's child, if you're going by the thesis that they got it on before the play's actions started. Which makes me wonder what would have happened if Polonius hadn't interfered with their relationship in the first place, or if Hamlet hadn't heard a sound in the Kenneth Branagh production before the "Get thee to a nunnery" scene...(I swear, I can tell that that film's going to eat up my brain for days; it's really annoying.) ETA 2: Re-watched the "Get thee to a nunnery" scene, and realized that Hamlet heard the sound after he told Ophelia to go to a nunnery. Whoops. Ah well.

Gruagh. I'm tiiiiiiired. Just got back from yet another trip to the beaches of Batangas. Went snorkeling this time instead of just splashing around on the shoreline. Scared all the little fishies away with my humanness, haha.

We're also headed to Boracay next week. Whoo! Masasabik ako sa kakapunta sa mga beach! xD

Checked AISIS earlier, and gasped when I saw that Wong submitted the grades for CH 12 already. Only, the "My Grades" link is still down. Which means I still have to wait 'til April 4 to see what I got for Chem lab. Please please please let it not be lower than a B+. I really need that grade as I'm planning to overload next semester. (Seems the best time to do it. No required chemistry subject!)

Just got back from school, after going to the History Department to see what my grades in Hi 18 are.

I got an A. I GOT A FREAKING A!

Which means I don't have to take the finals anymore! More time to study for PSY 104 and TH 121! Yay!

Also, my hate for Manaois is gone now. Haha. I could huggle him for the grade he gave me, only it'll be icky. xD

So, yes. Back to studying eleven different theories of personality. First on the agenda: Erich Fromm. *sigh* Why did I decide to major in psych again?

We went to Sabangan Beach in Batangas yesterday with my mother's side of the family. Alas that it was only a day trip; all the cottages were booked, and the only option left to us was renting a bahay kubo (well, two, actually), and they don't rent those out for the night, so.

Anyway, I had fun! The day was a fine one: it was a sunny day, but it wasn't too humid, so breathing for me isn't as much of a chore then as it is now, here in Manila. So sad that I still have finals on Wednesday and Thursday. I want to go back to the beach, damn it! The day trip wasn't enough to sate my beachly desires, as jellyfishes ran amock in the water after lunch, thus prompting me to just take a nap in front of an electric fan instead of staying in the sea.

*sigh* Back to studying for my finals...

Random numbers are out.

Reaction: NUUUUUUUUUUUUUU I'M RANDOM NUMBER 1150, aka I'm on the sixth batch to enlist online. ;______________; I hope I don't end up having to choose a 7.30 class, or else I'll just die die DIE. I want a 9.00am class at the earliest. And I don't want to end up in a 12.00-1.30pm class either, because it'll be HOT, since, you know, it's the summer term.
